New Project to try!!!!

Here is another Fabulous Project for you to try!!! I call this my Chiffon Flower Topiary with Bling. A perfect Table center piece for any occasion. I would love to set at the table called "Inspire" wouldn't you?  Read below how I created this Mix Media Project.

Here is what I did!!!
You start with a Smoothfoam ball in size 3 inch!!!

First you will get about 2 yard of Chiffon because you are going to be cutting a lot of flowers using the Large Flower in the Spellbinders Rose Creations Die Set. I could not put an eact number on how many, but if you want a full ball, I would say about 150 or more because you are going to double up on them As I demonstrate below.

As you can see from the Photos!! You will use two flowers per head pin and then begin build your Chiffon Ball. I add no glue. You can if you would like, but it stay perfect with the Head pin. Start at the top and work down each side in a line formation then begin to fill in the areas.

Now you going to some Rhinestones and begin Gluing them over the Head pins that you used to insert the flowers!! The Rhinestones I used I got at Hobby Lobby and they are called Table Confetti.

The Bling you see dangling from the topiary are charms from Prima Marketing Called "Velvet Trinkets". These are awesome and I look forward to working with them in future projects. How I got them to hang from the bottom of the topiary was that I glued to the end of a head pin. I thin inserted the head pin into the bottom so that these trinkets were dangle.

Now for the Base.....................................

This is a Glass Candle Base. I add the Bling Rhinestone Trim to all sides, the top and the bottom. This trim I purchase at Joann;s in the specialty trim section.

Finally, using the Spellbinders Fancy Tag 2 Die, I cut the style I wanted from cardstock, painted it silver, added this title to it and simply tied it to the bottom of the candle base.

I hope that this has inspired you to create you very own Chiffon Bling Topiary. These make for great center pieces for any event; baby shower, wedding, party. If you have any questions please let me know!!!

Almost time for the Christmas Love Campaign

I was honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer for the Christmas Love Campaign. This is such a wonderful cause created by Susan Weckesser.

So, What is The Christmas Love Campaign?

The 'CLC' is a very dear event that I ( Susan Weckesser) started three years ago shortly after losing my father to cancer.  My dad had lived a life of always doing kind things to ANYONE & EVERYONE. When he passed away suddenly I didn't know what I could do to continue spreading his kindness and love that he showed and gave everyone.. One day at a scrapbooking crop I noticed how kind scrapbookers can be to each other even though most of the time they are total strangers. I noticed that even happens on the internet. Crafters reaching out to other crafters with words of encouragement in hard times and in good times. After seeing this, I approached The Canadian Scrapbooker in the Fall of 2009 and I asked Katharina Doyle and Jackie Ludlage if I could write an article for their magazine on a topic that was very important to me, entitled 'Scrap Matters'. It talked about the awesome power of arts, crafts, and scrapbooking and I asked people how they brightened other peoples day by being creative?

'Simple Acts of Creative Kindness is an AWESOME TOOL!'

On Dec 18th along side Donna Downey, Mark Montano and many more fabulous artist/designers and I will be sharing our Christmas Love stories with an awesome project!!! There will also be a giveaway and more!!

Be sure to visit the links below to stay up to date with post, artists stories and projects, and giveaways!!

Make your own Printed Crepe Paper!!!

Okay, I got this crepe paper.... from my own stash of crafting supplies!!! Nope I did not buy it anywhere. I took some party crepe paper and created this.... Here is the how to....

Step 1. Get you some dollar store party crepe paper!

Step 2. Take this awesome tool the ribbon Iron by Peebles INC and iron the crepe paper. I love this tool. It only gets hot as needed to iron out paper and ribbons all shapes!!! THIS IS MUST HAVE!!!

Step 3. Gather up some of your favorite stamps!!

Step 4. Get your black Staze On Ink Pad, or other inks that will stamp real good and stamp stamp stamp!!!

Step 5. Run the stamped crepe paper back through the ribbon iron to set the ink!!

NOW!! you have custom stamped crepe paper that you designed and can decoupage onto to anything!!! Come up with creative ways to stamp in color, make patterns and more!!!

I hope this entices you to run out to the dollar store and bring out some of them stamps you have not used in a while!!!

Altered Picture Frame

Tis a cold night here and I wanted to thank everyone who attended my show and for those that will watch it later. Tonight I altered a fram my mom picked up at the Goodwill for $2. I plan to make my new scraproom in my new house when I get one.. Black and Pink themed. I created an altered tray last week to go into my new room to be.. and now I have created a matching picture frame!!

Here is what I did.....

Here you can see where I added the lovely Tattered Angels Mistable Crepe Paper atop the crackle finish I put on the frame. The crepe paper product is no longer avaiable but you can get this same concept through printed napkins etc. I decoupaged this on to the frame to make it look like it was stamped!! I add the crocheted trim and Want2scrap Bling.

This is why I love what I do. When I can take something that was old and ugly and make it into something fabulous. So the next time you shop at the thrift store, grab that old ugly frame and bring it home to create something to hold your precious memories!!
