Shabby Chic Chalkboard

Well it is the 2nd day into the NEW YEAR and I have been crafting. I posted on facebook earlier today "What do you think I will do with this?" Well that is what I have been working on all day and now have it finished and ready for you to gather inspiration from.

So here is what I did and I hope that you get inspiration to reworks those things that have been the attic!!

1. I took apart the frame!!
2. I painted the frame with Gesso so that I can prepare it for the paint color of choice.

3. I painted the entire frame after the Gesso, with a Gloss Antique White Acrylic Paint

 4. While the frame was drying, I used Chalkboard Paint and Painted the back of the glass mirror. What is awesome about this project is that I can choose to have the mirror or the Chalk board!!! I think I will be etching the mirror later to see how that looks!!!

5. I tore the paper off the chicken sign so that I could prepare it for my paper piecing and mod podge.

6. As you see below, I tore and inked edges of postcards from Webster's Pages to create a Shabby Chic Background!!

7. I cleaned up the edges and by this time, my chalkboard was dry and ready!!! I then put the pieces back into the frame!!

Now I pulled from my stash several things. Flowers, trims, pearls, bling etc... Lot of Prima Marketing stuff as well as tid bits I had laying around from past projects. I also used LOTS AND LOTS of I am Roses Flowers too!!! So I began assembling and placing all the finds and flowers into an arrangement!

I wanted to add this Graphic 45 Door Knob to the piece as well!!

Now after I had made my arrangements on the top left hand side and the bottom right hand side of the frame, I went back with the same Gloss Acrylic paint and white washed the flowers, leaves and more!!! EVERYTHING!!!

After that I added a few more flowers here and there and that is it!!! This was a very easy and project to create!!! I loved revamping what I have had laying around and making it into something new and exciting!!! Below are some close of photos of the finished piece!!!

I hope you liked the project as much as I do!!! Let me know if you have any questions!! Be sure to share and follow all my links below to make sure you stay up to date with all things crafty with Angela Holt Designs and The Bling Chronicles!!!
